Large Encrypted, Zipped, or Archived files...

It's best to not create a very large file of this
type before uploading it.  When you need to
archive into a zip, tar, rar...etc. Don't put all
your eggs in one basket.  Split them up into
smaller files so that you reduce the chance
for data corruption on long uploads.  For
example, you decide you want to compress
all your pictures into a single archive file...or
you want to encrypt those into a single
container file, this may result in a large file
that is several Gigabytes in size.  If you
upload this file and it gets interrupted along
the way it could become corrupt...but you may
not realize that until you need the file back.
If you split it into smaller file groups...not
only do you reduce the chances of corrupting
your "whole basket" of data...you also add
the ability to more quickly retrieve individual
data sets since they will be smaller.  No need
having to download all 20 Gigabytes of your
pictures just to see Uncle Tom at Christmas.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket...

Even though we backup your data on our
end...you should never trust having all your
data in only one location.  The primary purpose
of this service, and most others like it, is to be
an offsite backup "copy" of your data.  Even
though we can serve as a storage medium to
facilitate access to your data from anywhere,
it is still recommended that you keep a copy
of your data somewhere else as well.  My
personal strategy is to make a backup copy
of my files onto a secondary local drive...then
using an automated method of some sort,
occasionally sync that secondary drive offsite.
This method works best because it allows you
to quickly restore files without having to wait
for them to download when you need them,
and your files are still safely offsite in the
event of a home disaster.
